CRYSTAL MOSELLE IS A NEW YORK-BASED DIRECTOR BEST KNOWN FOR HER UNYIELDING AESTHETIC VISION AND DEDICATION TO CREATIVE DYNAMICS. CRYSTAL’S SPECIALTY LIES IN ILLUMINATING THE EPHEMERAL, MEMORABLE AND VISUALLY COMPELLING ESSENCE OF THE FLEETING. HER FIRST FEATURE DOCUMENTARY, “EXCAVATING TAYLOR MEAD”, A PORTRAIT OF THE LIFE OF DOWNTOWN ARTIST AND WARHOLIAN SUPERSTAR TAYLOR MEAD, WAS PART OF THE 2006 WHITNEY BIENNIAL AND THE OFFICIAL SELECTION FOR THE 2005 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL. HER SERIES “SOMETHING BIG, SOMETHING SMALL” WAS PICKED UP BY THE NEW YORK TIMES’ T MAGAZINE WHERE SHE WORKED WITH PHARREL WILLIAMS, AUREL SCHMIDT AND SHEPARD FAIREY. SHE SUBSEQUENTLY COLLABORATED WITH SPIKE JONZE ON A SHORT FILM FOR LA-BASED RECORDING ARTIST ASKA MATSUMIYA. SHE HAS WORKED WITH BRANDS SUCH AS LEVIS, CONVERSE, SONY AND KATE SPADE, AND DESIGNERS INCLUDING RALPH LAUREN AND PHILLIP LIM. AS A REGULAR CONTRIBUTOR TO NOWNESS SHE RAN AN ARTIST SERIES THAT INCLUDED JOHN BALDESSARI, JENNIFER RUBELL AND KAWS, AS WELL AS A FILMIC INTERPRETATION OF CHRSTOPHER BOLLEN’S NOVEL “LIGHTNING PEOPLE” STARING CHLOE SEVIGNY, KIRSTEN DUNST AND THE WOLFPACK BROTHERS. SHE RECENTLY COMPLETED A SHORT DOCUMENTARY SERIES FOR ART BASEL THAT INCLUDES A PROFILE ON BUCKMINSTER FULLER AND NORMAN FOSTER.
